Card payments update

Effective April 22, 2026, some card payments on Veem are not supported due to compliance requirements.

These changes apply to cards that are not issued in the United States. Below is what this means for different card payment scenarios:

Wallet or virtual card loads

You can only load a wallet or virtual card using a US-issued card.

  • US-issued card: allowed
  • Non-US-issued card: not allowed

If a card is not eligible, the payment will fail with the following error message:

"Only US-issued cards may be used to load a wallet or virtual card."

Sending Payments

All senders must use a US-issued card to complete a payment.

Receiving funds to a card

If the recipient wants to receive funds on a card, the sender or payer must have a US address.

  • Sender with US address:  Payment will process to the receiver non US card
  • Sender with Non-US address or no address on file: Payment will not process to the receiver card

Frequent Asked Questions:

Do I always need a US-issued card?

Not always, but for the card payment flows covered here, a US-issued card is generally required for wallet loads, business sends, and P2P payments.

Can a recipient receive funds on any card?

Potentially yes, but the sender or payer must have a US address. If that requirement is not met, receiving funds to a card is not allowed.
