Why is Veem updating its card fees?
This update ensures that processing costs are covered, especially for the transactions where fees may otherwise fall below operational costs. These adjustments also bring our card fees in line with industry standards while continuing to provide a competitive, reliable payment experience.
How does the minimum fee work?
Most card payments are charged as a percentage of the transaction (1-3%). If the percentage fee on your transaction total comes out to less than the minimum amount, the minimum fee applies instead.
E.g. If you’re sending $200 with a U.S. debit (1.5%), that’s equivalent to a $3.00 fee, which is below the minimum amount ($3.50). So, by default, you will be charged $3.50 instead.
Are exchange rates or other fees changing? No changes are being made to exchange rates as part of this update. Standard currency conversion practices still apply where relevant.
Will existing (in-progress) transactions be affected?
No. Transactions initiated and processed before [effective date] are not affected.
Are there any limits or caps on card fees?
No additional caps beyond the percentage and minimum listed above.
Does “Receive” mean the recipient pays a card fee?
Yes. Receive refers to fees applied when accepting payments into your debit card, where applicable (not available for credit cards).
How can I estimate my fee before sending or receiving?
Multiply the transaction amount by the applicable percentage and compare it to the minimum for that flow; the higher amount is your fee.
